Just wanted to say...

Miriam ran for the first time today. We were getting a snack ready and I said "Where's you milk? We can't have our snack 'till you find your milk". Well, she must have known exactly where it was cuz I've never seen her little legs move so fast. She started to actually run, and I thought the whole house might shake into a pile of rubble because she landed each step with a straight leg and a flat foot. I couldn't get her to do it again for the camera... you know how it is. A couple other cute words she's saying are thank you (tee-dyou) and bonk (bok) every time her head bumps something, which is hundereds of time a day. And today I said "Brrrrrr, it's cold outside" and she put her shoulders to her ears and her little fists to her chin and scrunched her whole face and growled like a bear, "Grrrrrrr". It was cute. Sorry, no pics today.

Just life

Things have been kinda busy, sorry it's been almost a month since I've blogged. Mira is saying all kinds of new words. She chatters in a foreign tounge all day long. She lectures her babies, and her blanky, and the dog.... ok, and her parents too. She just acts as though she's explaining something very complicated to us. She's completely obsessed with balloons right now, she used to call them balls, but we've corrected her so many times now she knows what they are but can't make it past the "L". She points and says "Blllllllllllllllll...". Her favorite word has to be uh-oh. She started saying "up" when she wants picked up. She says water (wawa), milk (mi), more (mo), pretty (bee-ee). She loves balls, and everything that has a round shape is a ball to her. You can imagine how exciting the produce section is for us. She's been VERY into girly things. She likes to wear dress shoes, and holds her foot in the air and says "bee-ee". She likes clothing with glitter or sparkles on it, she just likes to look bee-ee. And now she likes to brush her hair... so bee-ee. And she's walking confidently now too. She strolls all over the whole house, just to see the sights. But when we're not at home she's got to scope the place out and make sure it's safe before she'll walk. It's funny.

Jason and Taten built a happy snowman on Apr 29th,
but he soon turned into a sad snowman. Will spring ever come?

We borrowed this seat when Miriam was born, now we borrowed it again for the new little baby I babysit, but Miriam is a little confused about it.The top picture is her when she was only a couple days old. The bottom picture... you know.

This is on family movie night. We sat down in front of the TV with some snacks and The Tale of Desperoux, and she couldn't stop lecturing the TV. Silly kid.

Happy Adoption Day, Miriam!

On April 22nd 2008 Miriam's adoption became official. So April 22nd is a day that we want to celebrate every year. Nothing big, we just want to remember how God blessed us over and over throughout the adoption process, and the crescendo of those blessings was on April 22nd, finalization day. We went to our local soda fountain and had ice cream and fries. For the fist time we ordered Miriam her very own dish of pink ice cream (which she ate 6 bites of). We invited a friend to come along just for fun, it was a good time. Happy Adoption Day, Miriam! Mommy and daddy love you so much!

It was finally warm enough to open the windows this week. We don't have screens so it's just wide open. Well, Miriam LOVED to be able to partially hang out the window and feel the breeze in her... um... hair, er... scalp. I left the room for a minute and came back and she was gone. I panicked and ran over to the window yelling her name... she was in her fort, laughing at me.

I've been felling a little sick

I (Miriam) haven't been feeling well this week. I had a high fever (105 for three days) and I was so miserable so my mommy took me to the doctor. I like my doctor but this time she made me take of my jammies, and she put her cold hands on me, and stuck that light in my ear, and put that cold thing on my chest, and then, she crossed the line... she took me away from my mommy. I yelled at her. I yelled at everyone in a 3-block radius. I like to stay with my mommy when I'm not feeling well. The doctor told mommy that I had infections in both ears and a virus to go with. So I've been wearing jammies for almost a week but I'm starting to feel a little better, but now I have a full-body rash. I'm sick of being sick! I wanna go outside and play.

I'm still not comfortable running around. I like to take a few steps at a time, but only if there's something within a few feet to hold onto. I'm too scared I'll fall. I'm so good at scooting, I'll just walk when I'm a grown-up.

I had a GREAT time dying easter eggs with my mom and dad. They let me use a Sharpie to draw on my egg, but then they said that was stupid, but I really liked it. We made all the colors of the rainbow, I loved it! We wrote secret messages to each other on the eggs that you could only see after they got dyed, like magic.

My hair is growing so long and beautiful!

I don't feel good

VIDEO: Miriam is walking!

She finally did it! One day before her 14-month birthday she decided walking wasn't too hard after all. She's taken 9 consecutive, stable steps so far. YAY!

VIDEO: Standing

Miriam was working so hard on standing up by herself. She only started showing any interest that day, 2 weeks ago. She's so cautious, she can only take it for a couple seconds then falls on purpose. Silly kid.

VIDEO: The Fort

Yes, Miriam has built a fort. There's a recliner in the corner of our living room, and she has claimed the space behind it. She stashes toys back there for safe keeping, and likes to rearrange the pillows pretty often. She spends a lot of time back there, just... sitting. She leans back against the pillows, folds her hands in her lap, crosses her ankles and just relaxes in her new found privacy.

Updates on life

Wow, sorry it's been so long since I've posted, Grammas and Grampas. Things have been crazy here. Miriam is growing and growing. She's still quite a jabber box. This one word she says all the time, sounds like "a-bobby-yeah". She says it really fast. We have no idea what it means. She now says stinky (dinky), yucky (gucky), baby (beebee), ball (baaawwwl), puppy, daddy, mommy, yeah, wow, wowee, uh-oh, and mmmmmm right after she takes a bite of food. She can stand up by heself for a few seconds, then falls on purpose. She's taken a couple steps, we'll let you know when she's officially walking. If you ask her how old she is she'll hold up her little finger and smile. She'll tell you where her nose is, and where her hair is. She does several sign language words, please, more, all done, and thank you. It's so fun to watch her learn and develop.

Hangin' out in the fort, as usual.

Sharing a chair with Ali (UNusual)

"I think I'd like to read a book"

This is Wookiee's hiding place... how could anyone ever find her here?

Mira is still crazy over Taten. He lays on the floor and lets her "get" him.

VIDEO: 1st birthday!

It was so cute! If you notice her rubbing her chest in the video, it's the sign for "please"... she knew she wanted to eat that cake, she just didn't quite know how to go about it. I thought it was so cute how she tried to grab it five or six times and just hesitated over and over.

It's my birthday!!!!!!!!

Guess what!! I'm 1 year old now!!! I had a really fun party with some of my friends! I had a pink and brown cake with sprinkles and everything. My friends gave me lots of great toys too! I think it should be my birthday every day! I don't know why, but my mom was kinda tired out after my party, weird. I liked eating my cake but I DID NOT like the huge mess it made. My mommy and I do not like messes! I was so happy that my grandma and grandpa drove 4 hours just for me! And my aunt, uncle and cousin came from billing too! It was great! I must be so special! Stay tuned, my mommy is gonna post a little video from my party.

Just a quick post-party hose down

Mom and Dad let me open a couple presents a day early.
They gave me a chair that's just my size!
And Candice gave me these sweet blocks, I love 'em.

Daddy, you're too big for that chair!

My new little curl in back

I'm thinking about walking... but it's still kinda scary for me.

Our everyday life

"Mom, can you make lasagna every day? I'd never get sick of it"

"I got this little stool for Christmas.
I love it because it's just my size.
Thank you, Great Grandpa Haynes!"

"Here daddy, let me help you out with that."

"That's ok, Miriam... I think I got it. But thanks for the offer."

VIDEO: She's crawling!!!

This is the day she started crawling! YAY! She's been scooting for months now, and getting very, very good at it, but for some reason she decided it was finally time to crawl. I love in this video that you can really hear her excited little pant. I'm surprised she doesn't hyperventilate with all the air she sucks in when she's so excited. I'm just glad we can say she crawled before her first birthday.

VIDEO: Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby...

This is just a little footage of her jabbering, calling a cell phone a baby. Sounds kinda like she's saying "puppy", but that's how she says "baby".

VIDEO: Her silly little scoot

Mira has no interest whatsoever in crawling, walking or even standing. She's been far too busy perfecting the "scoot". Yes, she's quite fast when she's after something she wants. I think it looks kinda like skiing the way she sways back and forth. It's so cute... I don't want to forget it once she starts walking.

Our Holidays

Hey everybody! We had a great Christmas, how was yours? We went to Glendive to see Jason's parents and siblings, they were all able to make it so that was great!
Miriam has become obsessed with putting things "away". We find the strangest things in the strangest places. It's been pretty funny.
Then last week she learned how to say "baby", now she says it all day long. She calls everything a baby. It's cute.

Miriam has known what no means for a few months now. She used to be pretty timid about it, but the past few weeks she has been testing those limits like CRAZY. All day long we go round and round about the Christmas tree. She touches it, looks at me, I firmly say "Miriam, no, don't touch", She looks at my like "you're not the boss of me", then she reaches right out and touches it again. I call this picture "Defiance". Can't you just see it on her face?

She got this toy from Grama and Papaw, and she LOVES it.

Jason usually has a few geek projects to get done over Christmas

Getting some walking lessons from Aunt Cassie and Aunt Alissa

I love my cousin, Addison

Miriam got lots of cool bath toys for Christmas,
now baths aren't quite as bad as they used to be

She put her baby away

Brrrrrr... it's cold outside
